The Sea Fairies, a sweet children's novel, by L. Frank Baum is happily out of copyright. This tale brings a little girl, Trot, and her elderly friend, Cap'n Bill, underwater and into the world of mermaids, royal sea serpents and devilish creatures for a delightful adventure. The pictures above are the original drawings by John R. Neill. I found that this foreword is a good enticement to dive right in to the story. SPLASH!
